Yale & Towne: Stamford Collection
A lost treasure of security history
When Eaton purchased Yale & Towne in 1966, the fate of the lock company's famous millenia-spanning lock collection was suddenly in doubt. Eaton quickly sold off the lock division and never cared much for the history of the company.
Thankfully approximately a third of their collection had been on-loan to the Stamford Museum and the loan was made a permanent gift during the transition. While the collection has not been on display in decades, the museum were kind enough to let me photograph their collection in storage.
