About Me

Who am I?

I study the history & anthroplogy of security technologies, primarily locks, but have dabbled in door seals, encryption, etc. My primary periods of focus are pre-history, 1700-1900 in the US/UK. and modern era behavioral security in communities of affinity.

In what feels like another lifetime, I used to be a competitive lockpicker.

Where am I?

I'm based in Massachusetts, but used to travel about half my year giving talks and workshops. These days I mostly stay put, but I take on a gig or two each year.

You can find me online on YouTube, BlueSky, and that's about it.

I'm not always the best correspondent, but I love talking about locks, security, and history, so if you have a question or need help with a project, hit me up!
